Health and Dignity Through Gardening
HIM Gardens
Imagine a space where awareness and sensitization about diabetes and hypertension happen not in clinics, but in a lush organic garden full of life , the scent of spinach, ginger, and carrots blending with the cool shade of fruit trees and the hum of free range chickens.
That is HIM Gardens a serene environment where elderly men come together to grow nutritious food, share wisdom, and restore their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Elderly men learn organic farming, poultry management, and healthy nutrition practices that help manage blood pressure and glucose levels, keeping them active and purposeful.
Men meet twice a week to share stories of transformation and healing, while women, youth, and children are welcomed to listen, learn, and connect thereby creating a bridge between generations.
Under HIM Gardens, the HIMZ Livelihood subprogram empowers men and young people with agricultural and entrepreneurial skills. It provides access to farming inputs, training, and mentorship to promote food security, self reliance, and income generation.
Through HIMZ Livelihood, men not only grow food but also grow hope there by improving both their health and their household stability.
