H4HIM will be offering mobile medical help and services for hypertension and diabetes at the doorstep of the elderly men. Can you even fathom the idea where a mobile medical facility goes deep down the remotest villages of Zambia three times a week?

HIM offering medical service at doorstep will cut off the long distance of 35 to 50 km that the elderly men needed to walk to visit the hospital. The mobile van does not only shorten the physical distance; it shortens the emotional distance men feel when society tells them they should not seek help.

HIM medical van facility will be equipped with functional HBP, Glucometer, Retinol screening, ultrasound, oxygen cylinder, and urine analysis machine with all kinds of medication to treat HBP and DM. HIM will reach out providing treatment and medically prescribed drugs for those who are sick and natural ways of treatments, awareness, and advice for dietary changes and precautions for those who need preventive care. HIM understands the urgency to ease the suffering of aged men with diabetes and hypertension being on the rise in rural Zambia. If not managed, it could lead to complications like diabetic foot, gangrene, leg amputation and glaucoma.

HIM will include unique solutions for other complications like ulcerative swollen legs called diabetic foot, providing treatment on the spot for aged men who are suffering from diabetic leg like Mr. Banda, a 70 years old farmer in rural Zambia. Professional therapeutic massages will be given to enhance blood circulation and ease their pain thereby reducing incidences of leg amputations. Of course, the elderly men will pay a little penny for it but the benefits are by far greater than the amount of money paid.

This mobile health facility will have a capacity to carry five people such as a clinician, a nurse and two or three aged men that will require referrals for medical admission to the hospitals at far distance.

Furthermore, this van will also be used to carry elderly men who have benefited from HIM to create awareness in other areas by sharing their testimonies on how their sugar levels have been managed, how they have braved the societal norms and sought help,
